Save contacts in Address Book

How to save wallet addresses you send to often, so you can pick a name instead of pasting an address every time.

If you send to the same wallet repeatedly, the Address Book saves you from pasting an address every time. Save a contact once, give it a name, and it shows up as a pickable option the next time you send.

Open the Address Book

  • From Settings (gear icon at the top), scroll to Account and tap Address Book.
  • From the Send to a wallet screen, tap the Address Book button beside the recipient field.

Your first contact

The first time you open Address Book, the list is empty. You will see the prompt Save addresses you send to often and an Add Contact button. Tap it.

A sheet slides up with two fields:

  • Contact name. Pick something you will recognize later (“Alex”, “Work wallet”, “Mom’s Cashapp wallet”).
  • Wallet address. Paste the address or type it in.

The app validates the address before it lets you save. If the format is off, it tells you. If you try to save an address that is already saved, the app tells you that too.

Tap save and the contact appears in the list.

Using a contact when you send

When you are sending to a wallet:

  1. Tap Send on the Wallet tab, pick Send to a wallet.
  2. Pick the network and token.
  3. On the Send screen, tap Address Book beside the recipient field.
  4. Pick the contact.

The address fills in automatically. Enter the amount, tap Review send, and confirm. No paste, no typing, no chance of a character being off.

Searching

If you have more than a few contacts, use the search bar at the top of the Address Book screen. It matches on name or on the address itself, so you can find someone either way.

Editing or deleting

Tap an existing contact to open the edit sheet. You can:

  • Rename it.
  • View the saved address. The edit sheet keeps the address read-only.
  • Delete it if you no longer need it. The app asks you to confirm before removing.

Deleting a contact does not affect past transactions or your balance.

What a contact is, and what it is not

A contact is just a nickname for a wallet address. Saving someone does not send them a notification. They do not know you saved them. It is only visible inside your own Arca app.

Also: a contact is tied to a wallet address, not to a person. If your friend changes to a different wallet, add a new contact with the new address. Arca cannot guess which wallet belongs to which person.

Tips

  • Save contacts as soon as you send to them. The first send is the one that takes the longest, because you are pasting or scanning. Save right after, and every future send is three taps.
  • Use specific names. “Alex” is fine if you only know one Alex. “Alex Kraken” is safer when your Alex has more than one wallet.
  • Review once in a while. If you have not sent to someone in a year, it is a good habit to check whether the address is still theirs before sending again.
